The project
Q: How can I support this project beside doing a private donation?
A: You can spread the word! Let your friends know about the site. Talk to them, send e-mails and tell them about it on facebook etcetera.
If you have the resources and time you can collect money in cash by arranging events, collect at you work place or school. You can make an transaction using our website, or you can contact us for bank details for other means of transactions.
Q: I've seen other tree planting projects with less expensive olive trees.
A: Olive plants are sold at different prices due to age. Younger plants are less expensive but need nursering before they can be planted in the fields. We will buy three year old plants from Nablus that can be planted in January 2012 before the rain period and the spring.
Q: How come you can replant the exact same number of olive trees if you lost large parts of the land?
A: The trees will be planted closer to each other than the lost trees. Remeber that the lost trees where of considerable age and huge in comparsion of what these trees will be in many years. Some of the plants may grow badly or even die, while others will grow strong and hopefully remain for hundreds of years. Replanting the exact number is also a political statment refusing to let the olive groves decline, and a message to Israel and the world that the Palestinians will stay in Palestine.
Q: Does 7 Euro realy correspond to exactly one olive tree?
A: No, this is an estimate. 7 Euro corresponds to the current price of one tree on the whole-sale market converted from Shekel using the current exchange rate and rounded to closest even sum. The actual price can fluctuate a bit, and since we keep donations in Euro the exchange rate on the transferral date will affect the final sum in Shekel. Maybe 7 Euro will correspond to 0,8 or 1,3 trees. To be sure to plant a tree that is 100% yours, you should actually buy two trees :-).

Q: Adding up olive trees per donor does not correspond to the total number of donated trees!
A: So you did actually count through the page and discovered this?! The reason is that it's possible to make donations that does not correspond to the cost of a even number of olive trees and we only publish data in even numbers. Example: if John gives 22 Euro we won't write "John donated 3,14 olive trees". However this decimals adds up. If 10 persons donate 22 Euro each they will have donated 31 trees together, not 30. So we haven't misscalcuted it. The number of threes are the way we have decided to present the donations, we have 100% control of the total contribution in Euro of course.
Q: I can't find my donation in the list!
A: All donations is registered and published in real time. If you can't locate your donation it probably means that the transaction was interrupted. If you want to be sure you can check your account so that nothing was transfered, then try again. If the money was actually transfered but not registered by the website it would indicate an error on our site, please contact us so we can solve it. The transactions are always logged by our third-party partner Payson, so regardless on how we might have messed up your donations are safe.
Q: Who can access the list of donators?
A: For transparancy all the sums, transaction dates and countries of origin of donations are publicly published, with the option for donors to choose wheather to hide or show their names. E-mail addresses and messages are not published for the public. The uncensored list is kept within the group of organizers and will not be shared with any third party.

Q: What is Payson?
A: The website is developed in Sweden and Payson is a Swedish payment gateway simular to PayPal etcetera. The fees per transaction are less than PayPal. Besides, we knew how to do the integration with this system which saved us a lot of development time. The reciever of your transaction will show up as Payson, not "Replant Palestine".
Q: I don't want to pay online, how can I contribute?
A: Contact us for bank details for other means of transactions.
The website
Q: They layout is messed up or something is not working properly!
A: Please contact Niklas using the contact form at the About page, describe the problem, what you where doing and what browser you are using. In Internet Explorer you choose "Help" in the menu and then "About Internet Explorer" to get the version number. Internet Explorer is very common and therefore supported, but not recomended since it is way behind other competing browser such as Firefox and Chrome. The website should work fine on all Firefox 3.5+, all versions of Chrome and Internet Explorer 7+.
Q: I am a nerd.
Greetings, ll&p! For your information the website is developed and run on linux machines using apache2, mysql and php. Only free GNU software was used building this site. The site is built upon Drupal 7 CMS. Parts of the site is requires HTML5 and CSS3 support for the full "experience". I've put some effort in gracefully downgrade functions for older browser, but probably not enough.
